The latest in an ongoing stream of articles that all to clearly show the disdain in which the governor holds the constitutional
rights of New Yorkers. I was one of the above referenced until the fall of 1967, when having testified against then proposed city legislation, it was passed to nobodies surprise, I departed what was my home town.
That said, the following strikes me as obvious. Until the sitting governor is booted out of office, along with a significant portion of the state legislature, the existing situation respecting the basic constitutional rights of New Yorkers will never improve. Succor might be obtained via the courts, however that is costly and drags on and on. Unfortunately, it also seems that court rulings invariably leave the opponents of basic constitutional rights margin for screwing around, margin which they quick to grab.
